In studio production class we learnt about many music genres and its history. We were also asked that which genres do we like or any particular song or band.

As I like music that is acoustic based, my reply to that question was not any particular genre but set of music instruments. The music that has nice groovy drums with strings always catch my attention, specially drums as it is my favourite instrument. So far I have recorded only the instruments like drums, guitars, vocals and violin. Recording a full set of orchestral instruments would be a completely different experience from the traditional recording techniques used in pop rock or band, the whole approach from recording to editing and mixing would be a new skill set. I would love to record all the instruments i haven't had opportunity yet and experiment with different techniques. Having these skills will help build my confidence and also enhance the quality of production.

We also learnt about different genres and what makes it unique even though it is inspired from each other. All genres has its own characteristics that can be specific instruments, tempo of the song, or even related to the situations. For example, Rock music which is mainly influenced form R’n’B and blues.
